Windows are a character-defining feature of any old house and were built to last. Made of old growth wood, distinctive glass, and a level of craftsman rarely found today, a 100-year old window will last another 100 years, if properly restored and maintained. Add weatherstripping and a good quality storm window and your original windows can be as efficient as a new window. We have found few windows we couldn’t fix. And property owners seeking Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits will be expected to restore rather than replace old windows. Restoration is the green way to go.
