Caravati's VillageAntique Lighting and Restoration (Linda McCallister) Caravati's Inc., long recognized throughout the mid Atlantic region as one of the major suppliers of salvage for old house restoration, has added a new feature to its business. "Caravati's Village" is actually a store within a store. Nestled in a corner of the vast 40,000 foot main warehouse, the Village provides multiple services, including vintage lighting and restoration and fine furniture restoration and wood carving, in addition to Caravati's regular stock of architectural salvage and antique home furnishings. Lighting at Caravati’s Villages is a full service restoration shop that includes refinishing, polishing/cleaning, re-wiring, repair and repainting (to match the original finish on pot metal fixtures). The lighting department is operated by Linda McCallister who has many years of experience in all aspects of light repair and restoration. Linda is an expert at refinishing, and professionally cleaning antique lighting as well as hand painting appropriate finishes on pot metal sconces, chandeliers and bridge lamps. She has also had experience in making Victorian lamp shades. Tommy Hamilton is the resident wiring specialist. Tommy has had years of experience in wiring antique lighting from elaborate crystal chandeliers to old converted oil burning lamps. Tommy can professionally wire and repair almost any old fixture that comes his way. Fine Antique Restoration & Carving is a full service restoration and replication shop in Caravati’s Village featuring master craftsman William McCallister. Bill’s services include custom turnings and carvings, glass cutting, furniture and stained glass repair, veneer and inlay repair, duplications and reproductions, welding, soldering and brazing an much more. Bill has over 40 years of experience in all aspects of the antique market including repairs, appraisals, European imports, purchasing, etc. He has studied 18th and 19th century antiques and has worked for some of the best antique companies in the nation. Fine Antique Restoration is also capable of repairing and refinishing a multitude of various architectural items as well. In addition to antique lighting, Caravati’s Village’s new showroom has a selection of antique furniture for sale from local antiques dealer Donald Lewis. These pieces are the finest of Donald’s collection and have been restored to their original beauty. |
